Good job! Can I ask what the dividend yield is on this account and how long you have accumulated it? Also, do you pay attention to whether the dividend is qualified or otherwise (ordinary income, capital gains, return of capital, etc).
I started doing something similar to this about 30 years ago, before we had discount brokers and ETFs, which have simplified the process. I started with DRIPs through individual companies like KO, PEP, IBM, CVX, XOM, PFE, JNJ, etc. But then I transferred everything to a discount broker and eventually migrated to ETFs.
Kudos to you for holding individual stocks! Old school!

Yes. We have retired early and are living off the dividends from our taxable account. They cover our basic expenses and are increasing faster than long-term inflation.
Because we are recently retired early, the portfolio is in the process of migrating from Dividend Growth to Dividend Income.

**JNJ**: **May 1, 2024** \- Johnson & Johnson is moving forward with a $6.475 billion proposed settlement of tens of thousands of lawsuits alleging that its baby powder and other talc products contain asbestos and cause ovarian cancer, the company said Wednesday in a statement.
The courts threw out this settlement. They are still facing thousands of lawsuits.
**March 31, 2025** \- Today, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas denied the request by Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) (the “Company”) subsidiary Red River Talc LLC (“Red River”) to confirm its proposed prepackaged bankruptcy plan—notwithstanding that it offered one of the largest settlements ever proposed in a mass tort bankruptcy and was supported by the overwhelming majority of claimants.
Rather than pursue a protracted appeal, the Company will return to the tort system to litigate and defeat these meritless talc claims.
**Why would a company propose a $6.475 billion dollar settlement if the claims are meritless?**

I own NDAQ, for exactly the reasons you suggest. A good growth stock that pays a rapidly growing dividend, albeit from a small base. It is in my unofficial dividend high growth bucket along with Visa, Microsoft, S&P and a few others. I like to balance these with some stodge such as Verizon, Altria and then mostly your classic mid range stuff such as Coke, Hershey, McDonald’s, JNJ and Exxon. Gives me a nice mix I hope. I have no complaints.
