Female, 26 yo, working, breadwinner
Hi all, been contemplating for a year now if worth it ba talaga kumuha ng life insurance? Nabibigatan kasi ako sa 2,5k to 3k na monthly tapos dapat consistent pa, isang lapse lang wala na.
Personally, nakikita ko kasi siyang expense dahil mas nafefeel ko sa HMO yung worthness when it comes to medical.
Please share your insights po huhu.

> He then changed the subject before I could bring up the expense ratios.
........and you like, immediately turned your brain off and forgot that he *works for you*, or...???
Find your balls, lmao. You're nitpicking a tiny thing and arguing with people on reddit for no reason. I'll break this down:
1. You've concluded that your FA is making a poor decision.
2. You're arguing hard with everyone here that this poor decision matters to you.
3. You want to switch from SPY to another similar fund.
4. Tell him to do it or that you will find a new advisor if he doesn't.
5. There is no step 5.
Stop wasting your life on the bullshit and **act**. You did the math, you know you're right, you don't care how small the issue is. Take control of your life and stop dancing around your issues.

*"kapag hindi ko binayaran, sya daw ang kailangang magbayad."* \- This is illegal and unethical, btw. Its already a form of inducement, nasa Insurance Commision exam yun
Anyway, hindi ka pa naman bayad, OP. So pwede ka pa mag back out.
If you did pay, may cool off period naman to backout ulit.
Kung ako ikaw, pls find another FA. I wouldn't trust him/her anymore, especially since mukang Cash payment ka dahil may provisionary receipt. Better safe than sorry

I like him too. Probably the best level headed advice on FA and TA that I've seen.

I have the same problem (not a FA but buying SPY vs FXAIX). I love spending on red days and often times, I put my order in for FXAIX only to see I bought in the green by 3pm after close lol
With SPY, I get the price at the time of the order. so if im buying red, I get red. maybe your FA likes that control.
in the long run, I don't think it matters. im sure there's been days I bought when it was green that turned red by close. I notice the other way more because I buy more when its red.

I did all mine online, no need to contact your FA. Just complete this form, follow the instructions printed, and expect your remaining fund value in less than 10 days ---

Facts. Many of us here started with zero interest of purchasing for a potential squeeze.
People need to remember: P A T I E N C E.
The whole game plan for shorts is to break your patience - thinking that the stock will never go up, it’s too manipulated, etc.
Do your DD but also have the V I S I O N to see where things could lead. That means (objective information x insightful understanding x an educated imagination)
- it’s not built off of “hopes and dreams” - we didn’t come here for that.
This is not FA - just some
“food for thought, Dog. Get a a plate”
Woof woof, birches

You can easily buy and choose index funds yourself, without the drag of a FA. Plus, why not VOO instead of SPY? It is functionally equivalent and the fees are lower.

Great that you are FA, but please refine the understanding on smallcaps and don't suggest them to newbies. Thanks!

> SPY expense ratio is 3x higher than VOO
This completely lacks context. VOO is so ridiculously cheap that 3x its ER is still also very cheap.
How much do you have invested? I can break down exactly the difference in annual cost. It’s negligible.
Having said that, you’re right so if you want to buy VOO then fire the FA.

Get a different FA, and after your fifth one you'll realize you have trust issues and also no clue what it is you are doing.

3$ is 3x more than 1$. Your FA thinks you don’t care cause you’re already giving him significantly more

To each their own I guess.
I'm a SEBI registered FA btw so I know what to suggest and what not to ✌️

I am aware that SPY and FXAIX are very similar investments, to me FXAIX beats SPY out very easily due to expense ratios, (SPY - 0.09%, FXAIX - 0.02%). Otherwise, they are nearly identical index funds, with the only major difference being that SPY is an ETF and FXAIX is a mutual fund, (even so, VOO is still a lower cost ETF that beats SPY out pretty easily in my opinion.)

I have heard an argument that SPY can be easier to trade, but my Roth IRA is a buy and hold forever account. My FA is aware of this, and I do have a substantial 401K and taxable brokerage account/emergency savings to fall back on, in case of an emergency. Along with a 40+ year time horizon due to me being my 20's.
So essentially, I view VOO as the best ETF and FXAIX as the best mutual fund. So honestly, why would anyone buy SPY at this point in time? I feel like my money is being wasted.
P.S. - I do have a great (personal) relationship with my FA and receive his services for free.

No need na po. Though you can add accidental death benefit - example face amount ng policy niyo po is 100k then may accidental death benefit po kayo na 100k rin. So if death is due to accident.. FA: 100k + ADB: 100k = 200k po magiging death benefit ninyo
