In the first quarter, AMD gained ground on Intel in the desktop and server segments sequentially and year over year. In the laptop segment, Intel managed to eke out a sequential share gain, but rival AMD still ended up with a bigger share of shipments than a year before.

With a new CEO, AMD can double to triple.
But AMD currently is not about shareholder benefit, but insider milking AMD.

Great read! First stock purchase (newbie). I purchased 350 shares of AMD at $84. Hold for the long run!

The story over and over again has been a cash strapped AMD focusing on x86, starving GPU of funding, until about 18 months ago. Maybe the outcome will be the same, but the conditions are quite different.

Made a bot that took a little bit. But basically this is what it does
I asked gpt to look over my code and explain to me like im slow what the entire bot does basically.
Its trainings been going very well so far! Will have to see in a couple weeks really.
What Does SHODAN Actually Do?
1. Data Collection (Scanners & Backtesters)
Collects Recent Market Data:
Pulls daily and minute-by-minute price/volume/action data for your target stocks (e.g., NVDA, AMD, AAPL, MSFT, TSLA).
Stores this as CSV files for later training and research.
Backtesting:
Analyzes historical trades and strategies using your backtest log files to see what worked and what failed.
Overnight Data:
After the market closes, SHODAN pulls the newest data (daily candles, news, earnings, etc.) for use in “overnight research mode.”
---
2. Model Training (Machine Learning & AI Brains)
Reads all collected data (from scanner_data and backtest_results folders).
Cleans and fills missing values: Makes sure each data sample has everything the models expect (price, volume, technical indicators, etc.).
Trains Multiple AI Models on the Data:
LSTM Models (Long Short-Term Memory):
What they do: Learn to spot trends, patterns, and momentum in time-series data. Used for short-term and longer-term price prediction.
How SHODAN uses them: Three versions—one for 20-bar (short), 50-bar (medium), and 100-bar (long) “lookback windows.”
GRU Models (Gated Recurrent Unit):
What they do: Similar to LSTM, but simpler and faster, used for sequence prediction.
How SHODAN uses them: Trained on the biggest window (usually 100 bars) to predict future prices.
CNN Models (Convolutional Neural Networks):
What they do: Pick up “shapes” or patterns in sequences, just like how image AI sees features in a picture.
How SHODAN uses them: Looks for technical chart patterns and price movement signatures.
Bi-CLSTM Models (Bidirectional LSTM):
What they do: Look at data “forward and backward” in time for richer pattern detection.
How SHODAN uses them: Used for advanced trend/pattern recognition on longer sequences.
XGBoost Models:
What they do: A powerful non-neural machine learning method—great for ranking, regression, and “tabular” prediction.
How SHODAN uses them: Adds another voice to the prediction “committee,” especially good at using lots of mixed features.
Each model type gets its own saved file (e.g., lstm_20.h5, gru_100.h5, cnn_50.h5, etc.).
Models are re-trained on command (at startup, if you say “y” to retraining prompt).
---
3. Ensemble Prediction (“Brain Committee Voting”)
When making a trade prediction, SHODAN runs the latest data through all trained models.
Each model gives its “opinion” (prediction) about future price.
SHODAN averages the predictions to get a final answer—this is called an “ensemble” method and is more robust than trusting just one brain.
---
4. Live Trading Engine
During market hours, SHODAN continuously:
Grabs the latest price data for each stock.
Runs predictions and pattern scans using all models.
Looks for technical signals (moving averages, crossovers, RSI, volume spikes, etc.).
Checks news and sentiment (every 30 minutes, not every second, to avoid API limits).
Calculates “confidence” for each possible trade.
Risk Controls:
Never trades if there’s a big earnings report due, if you’re over your max open trades, or if you already hold that stock.
Uses dynamic position sizing (based on cash, risk, and volatility).
Places bracket orders (automatic stop-loss and take-profit) for every trade.
All trade decisions, results, and confidence values are logged for later review.
---
5. Pattern Detection & Strategy Memory
Scans for common market patterns: (bullish, bearish, neutral, crossovers, etc.).
Remembers which patterns worked best.
Overnight, analyzes all logged patterns to optimize future strategies.
---
6. Overnight Research Mode (“AI Night Desk”)
After market closes, SHODAN:
Reads and syncs any new PDFs or research documents for knowledge updates.
Pulls the latest market/news/fundamental data for all your symbols using your FMP (Financial Modeling Prep) premium API.
Runs the overnight_strategy_investigator:
Pulls news, sentiment, analyst ratings, insider trades, earnings, dividends, SEC filings, ETF holdings, sector performance, macro events, and price history for each symbol.
Auto-generates and backtests simple strategies (like moving average crossovers, insider cluster buys, etc.) using this new data.
Ranks and logs the most promising strategies for you to review the next day.
Results are saved to shodan_strategy_investigator_YYYY-MM-DD.json for you to review or auto-integrate.
---
7. RL (Reinforcement Learning) Training
Keeps a simulated “game” of trading running in the background.
AI tries out different trading behaviors, learning to maximize rewards or minimize drawdowns, then saves its progress.
This is continuous and helps SHODAN adapt over time.
---
8. Dashboard and Monitoring
Dash web dashboard: Live status, RL status, hot-patch status, market sentiment, system resource usage, and more.
Writes system diagnostics (CPU, memory, threads) to file for health checks.
Can be expanded to display live trading stats, overnight research results, etc.
---
9. Hot Patch & Status Update Loops
Periodically checks for updates, system health, and other diagnostics.
Keeps everything running smoothly and ready to reload/fix on the fly.
---
10. Modular, Self-Healing Architecture
Every error, exception, or missing data is safely logged and handled—
Never crashes from a single failed API call or empty file.
You can add/remove new strategies, data sources, or models easily (just copy the pattern).
Threaded background tasks—trading, research, analysis, RL, and more all run in parallel, so nothing blocks your core

😂😂😂. I've been in and out of AMD since the late 90s. I used to sell AMD CPUs when they were in their first hey day in the early 2000s. I knew ex CEO Hector Ruiz on a first name basis during his tenure. Yeah, I don't know anything about them. What I know today is that Lisa doesn't know how to build or market or write software for GPUs or data centers.
You on the other hand have got chest thumping, aka nothing, nada, zilch. Go circle jerk your nonsense with someone whoo cares.

\> the CUDA moat is untested.
Au contraire, it's been tested against every compute focused solution since 2016.
\>I suspect it's not going to be as strong as people think if AMD or someone else actually has better hardware.
6M developers and counting. A small win in hardware perf isn't going to displace those massive investments.
I hear your point, but CUDA isn't a moat on it's own, it's part of a solution. It could not, would not stand without its chip compliments, so to try and separate the two seems a little silly.
It's going to take dramatically faster hardware - likely a completely new architecture - to displace nvidia at this point, much like parallel processing GPUs did to single threaded processors, CPUs, in the data center.

Well we are absolutely looking through different lens, and that's fine. I'm looking at this upheaval and chaos as you call it and a unavoidable ripple of pulling up the plug of a clogged drain. The goal is to clean up a mess of a situation that has been years in the making. Evidence the Moodys credit downgrade just announced. Thats due to the US continued debt and interest cost spiral. Trump may be rocking a lot of boats at once, but a broad cross ocean reset is what we're after. The current trajectory was completely unsubainable. What is absolutely encouraging is outcomes like we have seen this week where people have come to the table and found ways to re-engage.
One of the reasons I've liked AMD long term , dispute the volatility, it has excellent ballance between it's sectors and even with them. Most companies that are circular will not be able to substain growth. AMD might be down on embedded but DC and AI cover the growth trend while the segments on the downturn swings back. It's a complex clockwork but far superior than just having a hour glass that flips over every year or few. The geo foot print of AMD is also well planned out where these political set backs are mitigate significantly. Tariffs has not been any sort of significant concern to AMD. But the Biden diffusion policies were quite a significant setback. Trump walking those back is extremely positive for AMDs near and longterm growth.
So no, I do not want these policies to flip back once Trump 'exits' office. My hope is we get some sensible tax reform to help synergize with the trading policies and ways to keep cost of living pressures off the backs of avg Americans. There's a lot of sky is falling shouting going on as have always been. A the same time, you can't ignore the guy who works at the dam tell you to get to high ground. The US debt has been push at the dam walls for too long and if we don't address that, ya, you'd better run. I think what Trump is doing is taking pressure off that dam so we might actually make the needed fixes in time.

A lot of things to keep in mind here. You're not truly senior. Despite the title, it's still an L3/junior engineer equivalent title that's 1 level from the lowest engineering level at AMD. If you've been at AMD for a while, your pay hasn't kept up with the market, you didn't benefit from the increased offers AMD has given out in the last few years, and since you're low-level it's easier to greatly increase comp because your experience has increased by a multiple of what you had when you joined AMD.

The only way this would’ve worked was AMD building the switch themselves. Also, UA link is cache coherent and is daunting for most networking companies. Cache coherency verification is very hard.

Is that just base salary or including stock options etc.? I recall reports that lots of staff who were at nVidia for a bit longer are now (multi) millionaires from their RSUs. I imagine in that scenario they don't care that much (anymore) about base salary that is at or slightly below market rate. But anyway, perhaps nVidia wasn't the best example to use here. I would rather see AMD pay market rate and retain talent of course, hopefully they wise up before they loose too much talent.
