Learned that XMR had a "51%" attack (further analysis suggests 35-45% with selfish mining) after Kraken sent me a note saying I could no longer make XMR deposits over regulatory concerns.
It gets better: the attacker is a charlatan recruiting a botnet by claiming they are developing an AI with the computing power.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/attacking-monero-qubic-sets-sights-193146462.html
The risk of a 51% attack was typically considered theoretical. But say it is an "AI protocol" and people throw CPU time at it, apparently.

I looked at come-from-beyond's Twitter last night and he has bee throwing out unhelpful suggestions such as:
* If you detect us working on a new block switch to us!
* if you are behind: use extremely short-term rentals! (longer term rentals are probably cheaper)
They have obviously gamed this out ahead of time.
The plan, before exchanges stopped accepting deposits, was to sell XMR, and buy Qubic coin: making the incentives even worse for Monero.
The Monero price would artificially go down, while the Qubic price would go up.
It is the stock buy back of crypto investing.
Bitcoin's Core Developers did something similar when the blocked scaling. Low transaction throughput artificially lowers the velocity of money, increasing the price. Meanwhile, Bitcoin Cash, with it's higher velocity of money gets a lower price.

I've noticed a lot of hype around Bitcoin as the "most secure" crypto due to its PoW model, but this often ignores empirical evidence of its flaws while downplaying alternatives like Nano (XNO). As someone who's dove deep into both, I want to clear up these biases with facts, events, and comparisons. Nano has been operational for over 10 years (since 2015 as RaiBlocks), with a clean track record that rivals BTC's 16 years, without the energy waste, fees, or centralization trends. Let's break it down step by step, based on real-world data as of August 2025. This isn't shilling; it's about truth-seeking for better crypto adoption ;

\*\*1. The Myth of PoW's Unmatched Security: Centralization and Incentive Struggles\*\*
Bitcoin's PoW relies on massive hashrate for security, making 51% attacks expensive (billions in compute/energy). It's "proven" over time with no mainnet reorgs, but this overlooks trends toward centralization:
\- Mining pools like Foundry USA and AntPool control >50% of hashrate, enabling potential censorship or collusion without owning all hardware. In 2025, Foundry mined 8 consecutive blocks, highlighting pool dominance.
\- As block rewards halve, incentives shift to fees, but low usage in smaller PoW networks leads to vulnerability. Look at Monero (XMR): In August 2025, Qubic's "Useful PoW" pool seized 52% hashrate, reorganized 6 blocks, slowed transactions, and forced exchanges like Kraken to freeze deposits. This shows PoW's "security budget" can fail without sustained, decentralized hashpower, Bitcoin's scale masks this, but it's not immune long-term.

Nano's Open Representative Voting (ORV) fixes this: Users delegate voting weight to representatives (reps), needing >50% for attacks. But redelegation is instant and free, making sustained control hard. No monetary rewards mean no economies of scale driving centralization (e.g., no pools or ASICs). Nano has \~100 distributed reps, and in 10+ years, zero 51% attacks, reorgs, or exploits causing losses. It's deterministic finality (<1s confirmations) vs. BTC's probabilistic (10-60 mins).

Bias Fix: PoW isn't inherently "harder to attack", events like Qubic prove incentives can misalign, while Nano's design promotes true decentralization without energy barriers.

\*\*2. Anti-Spam: Nano's Feeless Resilience Beats BTC's Fee Spikes\*\*
A common bias: "Feeless means spammable and insecure." Wrong. Nano uses client-side micro-PoW (seconds to compute) + dynamic prioritization (balance buckets, LRU ordering, bounded backlog in V28.1 updates). The 2021 spam attack caused desyncs but no fund losses, fixed via upgrades, with zero incidents since. Spammers need massive holdings to outpace legit users, and the network stays usable.

Bitcoin? Fees deter spam, but Ordinals/Runes cause mempool clogs and spikes (up to $500/tx). Tools like Bitcoin Knots (14% nodes in 2025) filter some, but it's reactive and hurts everyday users. Nano's system is proactive and feeless, better for payments.

Bias Fix: Fees aren't the only/best anti-spam; Nano proves you can have zero fees with stronger resistance, enabling micro txs without congestion.

\*\*3. Energy, Scalability, and Sustainability: Nano's Edge for the Future\*\*
BTC consumes \~0.5% of global electricity, tying security to wasteful compute. Nano? \~9M times more efficient, with native scalability (100-300 TPS via block-lattice) vs. BTC's 7 TPS (needing L2s like Lightning, which add complexity/centralization risks).

No premine/ICO in Nano means fair distribution, and its feeless model aligns with "digital cash" without incentive-driven centralization. BTC's halvings risk security as subsidies drop, Nano doesn't have this problem.

Bias Fix: BTC is great as "digital gold," but for payments/utility, Nano is superior: Instant, free, green, and secure without trade-offs.

\*\*Why the Bias Persists (and How to Fix It for the Future)\*\*
\- Network effect: BTC's $2T+ market cap dwarfs Nano's \~$125M, so it's hyped as "proven" while Nano is dismissed as "niche."
\- Misinfo: Old spam FUD ignores upgrades; "no incentives = no security" ignores ORV's altruism + efficiency.
\- To fix: Focus on events (e.g., PoW attacks) over hype. Test Nano yourself, wallets like Natrium show instant tx. For the future, cryptos like Nano push sustainability and usability, key for mass adoption.

TL;DR: Nano's ORV beats BTC's PoW in efficiency, anti-spam, and decentralization without real-world flaws, time to rethink biases!

Commercial banks very likely, central banks nope, they literally own the show by owning Tether, USDC, hijacked BTC in 2014 and by manipulating the price of peer to peer cash BCH and XMR to the ground while all these idiots are falling for it.
