Hello bogleheads,
I'm a rookie who feels his life was a lie until I found out that ETFs exist. Basically, I started putting in money on core tech stocks during the COVID market crash which by luck paid me well. Now that I am more aware of safer investment options, I want to build a portfolio for retirement.
TL;DR here's my breakdown -
VOO - 55% - I'm sold on the VOO and chill principle and would like to have a solid backbone.
SCHG - 10% - Slightly more aggressive take on tech aimed at maximizing returns.
AVUV - 10% - I don't buy the VTI philosophy of being "inclusive", and want to give the small/mid-caps a fair chance.
VXUS - 10% - Having a completely non-overlapping market with the US.
IBBQ and XLV - 15% - This is my personal tilt towards biotech/healthcare which I believe will be on the upside besides tech.
Would welcome any advice/tweaks/recommendations from the expert community here. TIA!

Ok. Trying to understand but have a couple of questions. What happens after the cost basis goes to zero. Further ROC makes the cost basis negative??? Also, not sure about this information concerning the 1256 contracts. Does the individual investor have to pay the 60/40 split LT/ST cap gain when they sell their shares or is that something only related to NEOS? TIA for anyone who can elucidate.

I am looking to reinvest proceeds from sale of a property of around $400K. Uninterested in reinvesting in property or being a landlord again. Looking to park for the long term, like many here. Before I talk to brokerage advisors, I wanted to get feedback / guidance from the collective on which ETFs you would recommend. TIA.

A personal associate has a gold maple from the 80’s (the queen is still young looking on the coin). And it doesn’t ring on the pinger. They have had the coin for probably longer than I’ve been alive, and got it from a reliable source. So I’m having a hard time believing it’s actually fake. I’ve seen commentary that these old maple’s will occasionally not ping even if they’re real. If I really sit there and whack it repeatedly, it will occasionally make a slight ring so short and quiet it’s hard to tell if you’re imagining it or not.
So I just ordered a milligram scale to do a specific gravity test on it. If it passes that test, will that be enough evidence to say it’s real? Or is it possible for a fake coin to pass a specific gravity test? Should I do any additional testing along with it? Like measuring its circumference and width? Would that be enough? Or am I going to have to find someone local with a sigma pro to make a final conclusion for them? TIA!

Basically, the title. The tax bill in works has a proposal to tax remittances from US @ 5%, implemented through remittance providers like Western Union, Remitly etc. Citizens would get back the amount as credit (it still is discouraging).
I can imagine folks trying to move away from the incumbent providers but don't understand how Crypto can fill this gap (as some commentators in media are mentioning). Won't even for crypto providers moving from account in one country to another count as remittance? TIA

The NYSDCP app is no longer linking as an external account. This is making planning frustrating/difficult as I am managing two of these accounts that no longer link. I have deleted and tried to re-add and have gone through numerous steps to attempt to relink. Can you work with NYSDCP directly to rectify this issue or am I the only person with this problem? If so, how to I resolve this? TIA

Hi. Need some insight po regarding spreading out money sa bank. Currently po, We have 10M under (Landbank/Green growth Interest range 4.25% Net/Annual) and We have separate account (Landbank/Optisaver) Since yung green growth ay good for 1 year lang po. As early as now gusto ko malaman what bank recos po for spreading out money yung okay din ang interest.
We have multiple account under landbank(for me, my mom and 3 sister) po and we are planning sana mag open sa mga commercial banks since yung tubo po ng mga yon ang ginagamit namin for monthly expenses. TIA

So as everyone knows that GTA6 is around the corner and Rockstar Games will keep trading it until its release next year, so Planning to get purchase Take two interactive shares (it's my first stock I will buy) yes people will say it won't rack up but with its huge anticipation & the game will me a masterpiece in itself which I can guarantee as me being a gamer half of my life. And apart from that putting money onto a good index funds which can yield some dividend as well. So what do experts here have to say on that huge release and how it will change or affect the market.....TIA
