PAXG is the real digital gold, covered by safes in banks in London en Suisse.

It's not like we didn't see this coming. Central authorities will obviously 1. First eliminate anonymous coins (like monero) because it's impossible to regulate. 2. Get rid of all tokens posing to be decentralized and backed by governments but are in fact shady as hell and layered with all kinds of corporate/legal red tape. 3. Introduce their own version which they claim to be the one and only legitimate digital cash that's all under surveillance and centralized control with questionable censorship resistance and at best.
This does not surpise me at all and if anything this is a necessary battle that has to be fought in the cryptospace. USDT is hella corrupt anyways. DAI and USDC are also exposed to the USDT bloat all the same. PAXG pretends like they're ultra safe but again they're intermediaries. The minute the government creates their own digital tokens with "security" most people will switch to those instead to avoid regulatory problems.
The question is whether a decentralized, pure commodity, digital token like XNO which is essentially no different in classification from bitcoin or litecoin, also be rejected by central authorities?
Chances are they won't be. Not for long.
I think we're in the clear.

Totally agree with you on PAXG being more transparent and tightly regulated — Paxos definitely has the edge there. Tether’s lack of full audits is a valid concern, and anyone investing should know the risks.
That said, I don’t see XAUT as “high-risk” in the same way as a volatile token. It’s still gold-backed, just with different custodianship. Holding both can still be useful for spreading platform risk — not necessarily lowering volatility but diversifying exposure.
And yeah, you’re right about cold wallets not being directly hackable. But phishing and fake signing prompts are still major threats, especially for less tech-savvy users. Cold wallets are awesome, but only if used properly — and that’s where many people slip up. CEXs aren’t perfect, but for some, the guardrails help.
Appreciate the thoughtful response — this kind of debate helps all of us think clearer.

What you’re saying doesn’t make sense. If you buy both a low-risk asset (like PAXG) and a high-risk asset (like XAUT), your average risk increases—not decreases.
There have been numerous controversies surrounding Tether, which make them hard to trust. They’re not audited; they only provide attestation reports. Paxos, on the other hand, is strictly regulated by the NYDFS and operates under trust company regulations. Do with this information as you wish.
Also, your comment on cold wallets shows a misunderstanding. Bad links or phishing attempts cannot access funds stored in a cold wallet. Even beginners are better off with a cold wallet than relying on a centralized exchange. Just ask former Mt. Gox or FTX users.

Thanks for your reply mate. Totally get your point, but I think it’s wiser to diversify between XAUT and PAXG. Different custodians, different risks.
Cold wallets are great, but not foolproof — people still lose funds from phishing or bad links. For beginners, a good CEX with strong security and support is often safer overall.

I’ve see this story play out too many times now. Interest on crypto always ends bad: Luna, Celsius, BlockFi. To make matters worse you chose to trust Tether…
Just some advice, get PAXG instead and store it on a cold wallet.
