Very simple: Price has nothing to do with this. Check out the past prices of ADA, LINK, AVAX etc. and you’ll see that usage does not necessarily reflect on pricing. Heck, Cardano didn’t even have smart contracts when it reached it’s ATH years ago.
Look on DefiLlama charts and you’ll see literally how TVL and volume skyrocketed the moment memecoins began to gain traction. I am not saying Solana is a memechain, if it was purely hype people would rotate to a better chain. My point is that the tech is good, but the only reason it got so many eyes on it and legit became a household name is because of the memecoin hype behind it, and the fact that the tech can ACTUALLY support the hype is what keeps it this popular and not just a fad.
FTX going belly up could have very well ended the limelight on Solana, tech is not everything there are tons of high quality blockchains that have simply faded away, memecoins brought it more popularity than ever before and onboarded so many normies that were not into crypto before, and they’ll stick to Solana because it works and it’s what they know.

I usually just discuss about different crypto currencies, and I want to start putting my money into them. I have around $500 I can put into crypto at the moment, and over time I will probably start to add more. I was thinking of a balance of BTC, ETH, KAS, LINK, AVAX, and SOL. Any opinions on this? And yes, I know that I should put most in BTC and the remaining split across the others. Thanks!

If I had $10k to invest in crypto, I’d split it like this:
50% into strong long-term holds like BTC and ETH
30% into mid-cap projects with real use cases (e.g., SOL, LINK, or AVAX)
20% into early-stage or high-risk/high-reward plays (meme coins, AI tokens, or launchpads)
And I’d keep some cash ready for dips.
