I asked about 90% yesterday at my LCS, and he told me bring a truck and he’ll fill it up with the stuff.

I love the state bars. I have 28 of the states now. They were made by Federated Mint. My LCS sold me most of them at spot +$2. Most places think they are premium when I find them. Most eBay sellers want $45-$65/each for the 1toz. I think I have given up the individual search for them. There are a few places that have the whole set w/box, but they are expensive.

In an old leather change purse that fits in the change pocket of my pants, I have my honesty goodness favorite silver round and about a buck and a quarter buck and a half worth of constitutional. That's just part of my EDC.
However my pocket piece is an old silver round that I got about five or so bucks back a spot. My LCS had just bought a bunch of silver from some guy while I was standing in there and this round was in there and he goes I don't know anybody that will buy this I'm going to toss it in the Melt unless you want it. It literally looks like somebody had skipped it across a parking lot. It was all beat up and had rough gouges in it Etc. So I carry that as my worry stone.
I've carried it long enough and played around with it long enough that it's not entirely smoothed out but a lot of the rough areas are now not so sharp anymore. And that is my pocket piece.

Some times weekends but most of the LCS by me keep bankers hours that’s why it’s important to build that relationship bc now I just shot him a text and they keep me up to date on times he’ll be there or if he’s doing local coin shows or I’ll let him know what I’m looking for and he’ll meet me at shop to do a quick pick up

My LCS sells the commemorative silver dollars at melt. I would walk, at this price.

Actually I watch the Sunday opening like a hawk. Usually it opens down, just to kill morale a bit. So this is a little unusual. But I agree, until the Fed/Government decides to end manipulation the price will be allowed to rise but slowly, like taking the air out of a balloon. The problem is paradoxical demand elasticity. In English that means unlike normal elasticity, when demand declines as price increases, silver demand will rise when price rises. This is because investors have basically 0% silver in their portfolios and precious little gold. So if the price of silver spiked up to, say, $40 very quickly there would be; “What’s going on with silver?” Reports on media, particularly CNBC, and social media. LCS shelves would be emptied fast. That is what the Government is afraid of. It can’t afford any further degradation of the dollar as a store of value.

Nice! My first LCS purchase was a NY Bar but .5 ozt.
Went back a few days later and got the other half in the form of a Cook Island round!

I can't confirm, but i owned the cent copy for a long time. Fun peice. Easy to test at a LCS, it did indeed say copy in the same place, but it was just counted as a 1oz silver round

I bought 2nd hand (I know, before I joined here) and assumed they were just for looks, maybe silver plated at best.
However, I did the magnet test and none of them are magnetic. Besides a LCS, how would I verify they are silver?

Yeah I have a bunch of old stuff that I found at the LCS got them all in the generic van as well. I wish this would let me post pictures with my reply but it won't let me do it. I could post a couple pictures to Silver bugs if you want to see them

They’re gorgeous aren’t they? I can tell you that’s the exact packaging my 2 came in. I purchased cheap hard cases for mine off of amazon just for stacking purposes.
From the pic, yours doesn’t give off any red flags. But if you take it to a reputable LCS they can test through the plastic I believe. Nice buy!

Premiums never disappear, premiums are what someone charges above spot so they can make money.
Spot is set by large trades on commercial markets, it’s your basic “this is the going bulk rate for gold right now”. Your LCS has a bit of overhead costs and operates for profit, so they’ll always try to sell at a premium and try to buy for less than spot.
A lot of those costs are kinda fixed—the shop’s rent doesn’t go up every month, staff salaries stay stable, owner’s target profit is probably fairly stable—so premiums may stay a bit stable. But as inflation occurs and pushes those costs/items up, premiums will go up.
You can find people who sell for lower premiums, or who might pay a premium to you, if you know where to look. Like, r/PMsforsale

Yeah 100%. That's why I included the story. If I was a different type of person I could've just put shipping on Tuesday haha.
I mean, backup plan would be going to the LCS I got most of the stuff from and selling there, they're nice, honest people. But I'd rather try to sell here.

I sell here exclusively. I buy mostly from PMSforsale but also auctions and occasional coin show. I usually lose money selling but it’s just a hobby and my taste in what I want to collect changes. Still prefer buying here when premiums are lower than online dealers and selling here because I can get slightly higher than what LCS will pay.

If this is true U.S. Money Reserve is as bad as QVC. I wish they would make laws that prevented price gouging like this. My local LCS warned me a few years ago after about the difficulty of never getting the majority of my money back on a lot of newer coins and showed me how they sell some of the exact same coins for spot that they had graded in their case. I had purchased around 15 newer graded coins from eBay and overpaid on half of them but it was nowhere near what OP grandpa did.
