One BTC had more buying power yesterday than it did today.
If that doesn’t register, then you’re dumb af.

you repaid your loan by buying BTC with $32k, so now you have 48k USDC and you can take all of your BTC that's worth 40k.
So your current portfolio is 88k

BoJ rate hike - tightening hits BTC and high multiples - BUT this will add urgency to the Fed rate cuts and QE - liquidity boost coming. Expecting a reversal and snap back higher today.

That is actually a very cool and unique Secret Santa idea! To answer your questions:
1. **Is it possible?** Yes, absolutely. You don't have to buy a whole Bitcoin. Bitcoin is divisible into tiny fractions called 'Satoshis'. $60 is a perfect amount to start with.
2. **How to gift it:** Since this is a physical gift exchange, you probably want something he can 'unwrap'. The best way to do this is to create a **Paper Wallet**. Essentially, you print the Bitcoin address and the private key (QR codes) on a piece of paper, and put it inside a nice card. It makes the digital asset feel like a real physical gift.
3. **Which coin:** For a first-timer gift, stick to **Bitcoin (BTC)**. It is the most recognizable and holds its value best as a 'store of value' gift.
Just buy the BTC on any major exchange, and then withdraw it to the address on the paper wallet you created. He can then sweep the funds into a phone app whenever he wants.

Good luck! :)

I don't think thats the case, because at anything below $87k China has the option of nuking crypto.
Their state reserves are, at lower estimates, around 67,000 BTC. Germany sold ~50k Bitcoin in 2024, and it sunk prices around 15%. If China dumped right now and caused a liquidity panic, with current conditions prices would probably drop more than that.
The US can't legally "buy" Bitcoin yet, so without some Congressional action or some emergency order the US couldn't step in to eat the dump. US Bitcoin treasury companies like MSTR could only absorb around as maximum of $1B of the dump, if they choose to buy at all. A full-scale China dump would sink prices for weeks, which is enough time for most of the guys that got crypto collateral loans during the good months above $100k (mid-May to mid-November) to start getting margin calls. There's some $30B of crypto DeFi loans floating around, so this would tank the sector and probably render most US crypto treasuries insolvent, leading to more liquidations and more downward price action. That keeps snowballing until 🌽bros are eating canned corn.

Yeah 100% chance of losing my buying power vs the small chance of losing money if BTC devs and the community can't get their shit together.
I will still pick crypto. I am just not going to ignore the risks because of my bags

This is not 2017 anymore.
You can dump crypto at any price (yes, even BTC) and if you wait for a while you'll be able to buy lower.

No way BTC drops to 30k. Don’t get me wrong, if it did I would be ecstatic! Honestly I’d be over the moon for 40k, but realistically I think maybe around 50k or a little less will be the low in a year or two. Hope I’m wrong and you’re right though because 30k would be an absolute STEAL

This is so true. In the past it was the "yen carry trade" that was very profitable that they suddenly had to unwind. Now it's BTC. But in the end it's just people looking for an explanation to something they cant understand and literally has not explanation other than market manipulation.

Th dollar dazzlers were stupid the first time they popped up, and they’re still stupid now. Doge is a currency, and currencies don’t work very well when their exchange rates are astronomical. In the real world, governments will step in to change direction if their currencies get too strong. In the crypto world, that falls to the market.
I use a slightly different yardstick to measure performance. I have roughly equal holdings of doge and BTC on my exchange, and for almost its entire life, Doge held the #1 spot in terms of market value. It’s only been #2 a handful of times, and right now is down about 2% against BTC. That’s not bad, and I fully expect a recovery once the craziness passes.
But then, I really don’t care what prices do anyway. My entire portfolio owes me less than nothing because I’m constantly trading and stacking up those small gains. Today I sold at 23 and bought at 21, for a nett gain of about twenty bucks per thousand… what’s not to like?
