I been in crypto since 2017. However the short answer is Bitcoin is "PROOF OF WORK" concensus , while ETH is "PROOF OF STAKE" - big difference with these concensus types. ETH doesnt have the ability to be POW, like Bitcoin. I think ETH had a WBTC- which was like a wrapped representation of BTC on ETH platform, but they were only bridged representations of BTC 1:1. Its impossibe for ETH to operate like BTC due to the staking processes.

thank you for the feedback, very useful
maybe it is because the video/screenshots show the 'ALL' crypto by default instead of BTC ?

The Trump family has been into Crypto for years. Have you seen the BTC mining facility they own in Texas? You think that got built since Jan? World Liberty has been around for several years as well...BEFORE he even won the election. He's a businessman...if he IS tweaking crypto...he's doing it for me and you too. You want him to tank it and start filing lawsuits to stop it like Biden did? Its comming no matter what Trump does...it's been comming for ten years.

Wow. Thanks for your service! That makes a lot of sense and I hope you can see is my current struggle. I have a lot of student debt. A lot of it from graduate school. I was debating when is the right time to sell/to sell. I think your explanation helps me a ton. Maybe sell if you can pay it off a few times over, ex 10x or 5x or whatever it may be. I wonder if the BTC potential has tapered off. I think it will 10x in 10 years-15 years at least though which is good enough for me.
If you feel comfortable, can I ask how old are you? I feel like people in your situation have to be 40-50+ years old.

Anyone else thinking about Bitcoin's moat lately? With all these alt-L1s and new chains, I'm still fascinated how BTC maintains its position. Been in the space since 2017 and nothing has come close to challenging its network effect and brand recognition. What do you think gives Bitcoin its strongest moat?

I've been fascinated by the Cypherpunk movement since getting into crypto. Those early advocates for privacy and encryption really laid the groundwork for what Bitcoin became. Did you discover any interesting connections between Canadian cypherpunks and the early BTC community? I know there were a few key players from our neck of the woods!

Shorts will be reck't if MSTR trades above $200.00. They will then get margin called and have to cover their position creating buying pressure that will send the stock shooting higher. Short interest on MSTR is high right now sitting around 9.6%, comprised of large institutions who have piled in pushing the stock downward.
Could this be the next GME? So far there has been amembers of the retail community fighting back canceling JPM Chase cards and accounts showing support for MSTR and their disgust against big banks and JPM who they believe has been behind the attack on MSTR.
Will they take the next step by initiating a massive short squeeze? Will BTC continue it's upward move bringing MSTR up with it causing the short squeeze all on its own?

MtGox could have legally kept most BTC since the recovered goods were worth a lot more than the total liabilities at the time of bankruptcy.
Mark said he has a moral responsibility and he doesn't want to be afraid for the rest of his life, so they changed it to some civil proceedings where the BTC would be split evenly.
As far as I'm aware of all the other bankrupt exchanges (FTX etc) just kept the "winnings".

That documentary is from 2024. We are at the end of 2025. Bitfinex coins were moved to [bc1qazcm763858nkj2dj986etajv6wquslv8uxwczt](https://mempool.space/address/bc1qazcm763858nkj2dj986etajv6wquslv8uxwczt) in 2022 and are STILL sitting there. That address is still likely controlled by USG, not Bitfinex.
I remember the "hack" and them issuing an in lieu token that could be traded for sats on a coin, and many people dumped theirs and have no claim anymore. People who had a lot of btc definitely got shafted, even if they are still holding the LEO tokens since they are not considered a "victim." But since BTC is still sitting in the USG hack recovery address, there's nothing Bitfinex can do about that yet.

One time a crypto scammer showed me her gains
She shared a screenshot where she threw in 40k, BTC moved $300, and she made 10k
I said the math not checking out and she thought i was retarded

My finances were primed for holding Bitcoin, so I don’t think my path would work for everyone.
I am a veteran, so the military set me up for a debt-free adulthood, namely in paying for college and allowing me to borrow for a home at 0% down. By 2015, we had zero in student loans. We had zero in car loans. Our only debt was the mortgage.
I think paying off debt is important, but you certainly have to balance expected gains with the interest rate of your debt. For example, I’ve had the cash to pay off my mortgage since 2016. But it would have wiped out all of my BTC and stock, so I never did it. Even when I could pay it off a few times over, I still didn’t do it. Now, I could buy my house in cash nearly 10 times over, even after fifteen years of appreciation.
But a mortgage isn’t a car loan or a student loan. I’d be tempted to be a bit more aggressive with those types of debt. I’d also buy a home as soon as it becomes practical, but only if I could let more than half of my savings stay invested after the down payment.

Way back in the early days of BTC a coworker of mine bought several coins. I don't know exactly how many, but it was a few. They were like $40 so he bought enough to pay off any crypto locker scammers. He figured if one of his friends or family fell for this scam and got their PC files locked he could pay the ransom and get the files unlocked. He never had to use them and I tried to convince him to sell them when it was $30k a share, but he held.
He got caught up in the FTX thing and lost some value over that. He got his money back, but not the appreciation of the coins. He didn't have his whole nut in there, but he still lost a good chunk of value.
If I was him I would have sold so many times already. He doesn't because he doesn't want to pay the taxes.

You did the thought problem and never gave a reply.
If you had $45k to invest would you buy bitcoin? If no, sell. If yes, keep.
I would never have bought BTC in the first place, so if I ever got some I'd sell it as fast as I could. I think Crypto is little more than a Ponzi scheme and it's bound to collapse someday. Even if I'm wrong I don't see it becoming anything other than a fringe currency. I'll pass.

How do I move to cold storage? I have some in Coinbase but most is in Robinhood, like .01 BTC.
I set up a daily buy system and just forget about it to let it stack. Am I doing it wrong?
