I agree. But in my opinion the worst is behind BCH, it has been steadily building and growing since 2021. I really hope we see more adoption pockets like we saw on BTC with Bitcoin Beach etc. But this time with working p2p cash.

I sold some BTC in 2019 to buy a house. Was a great decision. No more renting, pool parties w friends and nearly 100% increase in market value since. What’s the point of stacking if we never reap any rewards?

$100 of BTC will not make you rich. $100 of anything else will not make you rich.

Gold is only what it is today, because it was an useful medium of exchange at some point. Like other precious metals it had some utility. BTC has artificial restrictions to its utility and will never be a useful coin. Layer this, tech that, it is useless and will remain so. Everyone, even if they would never admit it, are in it because they hope number goes up. That's why no one cares about utility. This is a game of musical chairs. It won't be pretty when the music stops.

Dude.
She transferred money to her account to get BTC.
Point is: she didn’t get her money on her account or a refund and thus no BTC since that’s what she wanted to buy.

And if I bought BTC 10 years ago I’d be retired today but unfortunately we don’t have crystal balls

The whole "soft landing" idea seems to be falling apart for a lot of people. It feels like we're past the point of just a bumpy ride and now we're just waiting for the next thing to break. Your points about inflation, jobs, and tariffs are all backed up by the data I've been looking at. It really feels like we're in a tough spot where every move the Fed makes has a downside. I'm with you on pulling out of everything but BTC. The search results show that Bitcoin can be a good hedge against inflation due to its limited supply, but that its value can also be volatile in times of financial uncertainty, which is why a lot of people are getting nervous.

What you’re saying doesn’t jive. You mentioned “no money, no BTC”. That’s not how it works. The deposit goes in as cash and you have to convert it to BTC. To me , this implies you’re bullshitting.

ADA/BTC near all time lows and at the same price from like 8 years ago.
How anyone can hold this shitcoin is beyond me.

Inflation is going crazy still, job markets are trashed and unemployment is up. Tariffs effects are expected to hit soon. I pulled out of everything but BTC.

Wrong
Gold is a store of value, but is obviously useless today as a medium of exchange as it's not practical to pay for a coffee with a tiny fraction of a gram of gold
Store of value first. Then, when more merchants realise that it's a good store of value and still has a lot of upside, then they'll want to collect it as payment. So then we have medium of exchange
This is basic BTC economics. Create the store of value with the excellent technology basis (the large network of easy-to-run nodes, Lightning, Ark Protocol, Cashu, Fedimint, Nostr zaps...), so that all users (merchants and consumers) are easily about to onboard after they understand

Tbh if we get to that point where is cheap enough to make gold using fusion or something, then neither BTC, gold or any currency really matter anymore, it will be post scarcity and that means that humanity won

Well you cant have it as payment system when only ~1% of the population holds BTC (not talking about shitcoins) and when nobody else is onboard the crypto train. Adoption takes time since most boomers and millionaires holding the money would be reluctant to acknowledge the shift. We can argue if Btc has value but then again only if more people shift to use crypto for day to day activity can we say that it has failed as a payment system. As of now people are using it has a hedge .. very much like gold. But sure you never know what happens next.

That spike in 2014 (when I first heard about BTC and dismissed it as a bubble) is basically indistinguishable now when you look at the all time chart.

But in that case BTC really is just bad as a money. It stores value alright, but for trading it ain't that great.
