Almost 40% down and I only had the less risky ones (BTC and ETH). It stings but I'm not in trouble since majority in invested in stocks and property and I have income.
I'm glad I didn't invest more and I am not sure I'll ever buy crypto again. Not selling at a loss but this will likely take years to break even.

After the gfc , I got out of mutual funds and started what today is called “swing trading”, making a couple hundred bucks on each trade. I remember buying and selling tickers like HD, DPZ for $35-$50. Thought NVDA was too risky, BTC expensive, gold sideways etc. etc. Just a real life experience note to younger investors that want to long term invest.
However, after the 07, 08, 09 collapse, I can’t shake the fear, so I try to exit most positions weekly using weekly itm, high delta ccs.
Look up the Japan “carry trade”.

Saylor bent you over and made you his little twink so he could ream you for all your retirement savings. Not only that, but what you two had wasn't even exclusive. Man be doing it to thousands of others just like you. mNAV of 2 meant "here you give me $2 and I'll give you $1 worth of BTC in return, but no promises"

Your post is fine man.
It’s a very good idea to set aside what you can every month and invest it. Whether that’s bitcoin or something else.
I’m paying into a small fund of shares that pay dividends every month. Solely so that in 10 years or so I might have the amount of a few monthly mortgage payments just in dividends. It’s about thinking long term and the same applies to bitcoin. Vast wealth in a short space of time? I’m afraid we’ve missed the boat my man. There’s no knowing where bitcoin will be in 10 or 20 years though. With monthly contributions over that period, you should have a nice little nest egg.
It’s like a piggy bank that (will hopefully) get bigger and bigger over time. Prices of any shares not just bitcoin will go up and down sometimes massively. But you’re in it for the long haul so ignore it. When the price is down? Great time to buy.
I say that last part who made his first BTC purchase of a grand and a bit when the price was at 80k GBP. Then a bit more at 72k.
It’s now at 64ish and I’ve no more money to put in. Like I say though, long term.

It’s more synthetic exposure. There’s no actual BTC being handled in that process.

I trapped with alts ATH but lost almost everything. Bitcoin is the only asset in my opinion that you can rely. I would be mentally rich if I can achieve a goal to hold 0.01 BTC and forget it for the next couple of years.

Great job. This is the time for folks looking to accumulate BTC, and who thought they missed the train. Keep scarfing your BTC up.

If you want to buy and forget just buy BTC, because few ALTS will make it. ETH probably will be one if nothing better overtake it (being dramatic here, don't think ETH will loose his status anytime soon even if SOL grows) . XRP has really a use case ? Unless they find a way to apply they coin with US gov, i doubt they will have any relevance in 10 years.
So if you want to have a bit more upside in ETH would consider the below
BTC - 80%
ETH - 20%
XRP - forget XRP will this exists in 10 years ?

The last global recession was in 2008, and it was a large part of why Bitcoin was created in the first place. This means we don't know for certain how BTC will perform in such an environment. However, the Pandemic may still be used as a smaller model, which strongly suggests that BTC will get through another recession just fine.
It will dip, of course, just like every other financial instrument. But it will almost certainly make it through.

This is the guy that lost all his BTC because his wallet became "corrupted somehow" in 2020. I'd be hurt for years too.

I don’t think BTC or any crypto works in the “real” world. At least the way it’s setup. Theres too much volatility. Example, you want to buy a car that’s worth $80k one day. You go home and think about it and the next day that crypto you were going to use isn’t worth the $80k anymore it’s $60k now and you can’t buy that car.

Either keep chasing gains on low market trash or stop trading and believe in something. Nothing has as much hype as SPX6900, don’t get fooled into thinking it’s too late. Its still early, like BTC in 2015 💹🧲

I'm holding Bitcoin since 2022 and I'm considering to elevate the percentage of BTC in my portfolio.
I've always be careful with my percentage of my portfolio in considering Bitcoin because I knew just a bit of this asset. So, I started with 2% and growed it to 27% of my portfolio. I never sold any of my Bitcoins from 2022 until now and I don't care about volatility unless it compromises the fundamentals of the assets- and that's not the case. I only invest what I can lose, I have cash to compensate some loss in my personal finances and the value beyond this limit I invest.
So, now I am with 40% of my money in cash, I buyed the dip with DCA until my threshold of 27% . And I am considering to elevate my percentage of BTC to 40%. Because I can't see better asset to put my money in right now. Everything in ATH doesn't please me to put my money.
I've beeing studying Bitcoin for a while and feel so much confidence in allocating more of my capital in it. What about you? what are thinking with your investments of Bitcoin? Are you 100% in Bitcoin or you are also diversified? Let's share.

Serious question, once BTC breaks ath in a cycle why does everyone think it's going to shoot straight up?
The sell orders at ath and just below are always huge, if you're holding be ready to see a lot of red over a few years and be comfortable with it
