AAVE Keeps Growing and Has Become the Number One DeFi Protocol in TVL! | Data On TVL, Deposits, Borrows, Users | May 2025

Just want to give some background. I'm 28 now. First heard of btc around the age of 14, maybe even 13. Being a little anarchist, i was quite intrigued. I browsed silk road. Never bought anything, heck I didn't even know how to buy btc until I was probably 19 or so. Anyhow I lost most my shit with Celsius. Look it up if you don't know. I was telling everybody how the returns were so great and Yada Yada Yada. I understand, I've been there.
I bought a significant amount of LUNA or whatever the fk it was, just because I saw it fall off a cliff, and I said "buy when everyone is selling, it's gotta bounce". Rip.
I converted 2/3 of my btc into eth early on... for a couple years following it appeared to be a great decision, but at this point I wish I hadn't. Just for perspective.
Okay and on to the final point. I think eth is great, obviously. But I simply do not believe the direction the world is headed, financially speaking, is to flood into crypto currency like everyone always says. When I discovered web 3.0, I thought it was the shit, still do. I think AAVE in particular is such a powerful idea.
But the vaaaaast majority of people still don't understand the basics of even bitcoin. They may own some still, but have no fucking clue, and I'll tell you what they're sure as hell NOT gonna do, learn web3.
Get some real financial advice. Save your money properly. you know you should anyways. Invest most in index funds, allocate no more than 20 % in crypto, and if you hit it big, aka if you suddenly had a 50% allocation in crypto, rediversify. Immediately. Don't put your heart in it. It's money. Oh and don't even learn anything about options just stay away.
